Mr Rasanga said there are many challenges that the counties falling within major towns cannot afford to implement.

He said Kisumu County should get more allocation compared to other counties in the region due to the city status of Kisumu.

“The Commission on Revenue Allocation should consider this when allocating funds, the needs of Kisumu are far much a head of Siaya,” he said.

The governor said Kisumu is the gateway to East African countries and should be assisted to develop.

Speaking on Saturday in Kisumu when he graced the launch of Victoria Gardens Estate, Rasanga said the funding being channeled to the counties is not even enough to construct roads.

Rasanga told Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma not to attempt tarmacking a road in the county since he will be left with no money to do other developments.

He said tarmacking roads in the county will mean that every sub county will be demanding for a tarmacked road in their areas yet there is no enough money.

“If you tarmack a particular road in a sub county then you will bring problems to yourself because every sub county will demand for a tarmacked road and there is no money for that,” he said.

Ranguma who was in attendance during the launch announced that the construction of Mamboleo junction-Airport road will be done by the national government.
