The construction of the proposed Eldo city is underway and is set to employ thousands of youths and women from the area.
The proposed city, which is 18kms from Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu County and occupying more than 500 acres of land which when once complete will be a large scale urban city consisting of residential, commercial, industrial, tourism, social and recreation amenities.
In addition, the project, which is initiated by billionaire businessman Mr David Lang'at famously know as DL to the villagers has already employed hundreds of youths and women to work in projects like planting trees and flowers, constructions e.g tarmacking the road connecting the city to the main tarmac road to Eldoret Town.
Furthermore, residents of the area are delighted by the project, saying it will benefit generations once complete.
"I'm happy I got a job here, i'm just a neighbour to DL and this job has helped me put bread on the table for my family," said Mrs Tanui, who is employed to plant and maintain flowers.
Investors are expected to flock in after the tarmacking of the road leading to the city is complete, creating more opportunities in the area which a good hub for agriculture.
