Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago received the Israeli strategic partner from Via Maris organisation who will assist the county to establish an industrial incubator park in Eldoret.
The meeting follows a fruitful engagement with the Israeli High Commissioner to Kenya Noah Gal Gendler in Nairobi, a few weeks ago.
The project by Via Maris will need about 15-20 hectares (which will be provided by the County) to set up the investment, as it targets Small Medium Enterprise (SMEs).
Mandago said the park will host 50-80 production units across all the sectors, providing between 2000-3000 indirect jobs.
"It will cost an average of $15.6 million estimated to be Ksh 1.58 billion, Uasin Gishu county will provide 30% of the total amount," he noted, adding that the project is meant to incubate and mentor local SMEs while doing the actual production and marketing in a world class environment.
According to him, the project would build the capacity of Uasin Gishu's young entrepreneurs to grow their skills from small enterprises into market leading industries.
