The Senate has been challenged to fight and protect devolution for purposes of advancing development at grass root levels.

Briefing journalists at county offices on Monday, Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua said that devolution lies in the hands of senators.

He added that the Senate is the key law maker on matters touching on devolution.

“I want to challenge senators to jealously protect devolution so that Kenyans can reap its fruits,” he said.

Mbugua said that much has been achieved since inception of devolution two years ago adding that counties need more resources to advance development.

The Nakuru County boss noted that Kenyans at grass root levels can now access services they could not access before.

Mbugua pledged to promote development across Nakuru and make sure all residents benefits from devolution.

The governor appealed to county leaders to forge together and commit to serve the people.

Mbugua at the same time dismissed claims that his government is discriminatory in terms of projects allocation and implementation.

He said those spreading the claims are envious of his development plans adding that no area or Ward or Sub County will be discriminated upon.

“My government will implement projects across all sub counties on equal basis,” he assured.

Mbugua urged leaders to stop speculations on matters development and instead seek the right information on the same.
