The National Government has been told to protect Garissa by building up security in the region.
A Kisii criminology expert, Evans Magendo said the nation is making a big mistake forgetting that Garissa is the main entry point of terrorists.
Magendo stated that it is fruitless to try and curb terrorism in the big cities and the whole country such as Nairobi and letting loose the entry points of the enemies.
He said the attacks that happen in Garissa and other towns are as a result of failure to effectively curb illegal immigrants in the border.
“If we would adequately manage the border, then we would be far clean from terrorism for the border is the entry point,” he said.
“The best way of handling the terrorists is not letting them into the country and this is where we have the problem. Security should be concentrated and beefed up in the region and make zero chances off illegal immigration, thorough frisking,’’ he added.
