Itumbe location chief in Sameta Sub-county,Henry Mirara has challenged local coffee farmers in his jurisdiction to protect their coffee produce in the co-operative societies stores against theft syndicates.
Mirera asked the farmers to work with community policing groups and law enforcement officers on the ground to bust coffee theft cartels,through efficient sharing of information on the suspected coffee theft syndicates.
Speaking at Nyamonya Farmers Co-operative Society head office,during the Society's Special General Meeting,the provincial administratoe reminded farmers that the Government will ensure their coffee produce in the co-operative societies' stores and the one in transit to markets is well protected to avert theft of the most sought committee in the market.
"As a Government agent onthe ground,I have assred you that the Government will provide security to you and your property,but you must also volunteer information to the relevant security agencies incase of any detection of crime in your midst for the Government to take appropriate action,"stated Mirera
He also warned coffee farmers against allowing politics to destabilize their coffee business,instead,keep off politics while doing their coffee business and give their leaders a chance to run the co-operative societies without external political interference.
