Embattled Kenya National Union of Teachers Secretary General Wilson Sossion has yet again received a major boost over his quest to stay in office despite resistance from a section of teachers.
On Tuesday, Sossion insisted that he will only quit office in 2021 should he lose in polls adding that he is a victim of state intimidation.
"I am not going anywhere. Those who want me out should face me in 2021 polls. If I lose, i will step down," he said.
Nyanza and Rift Valley branches have come in defense of the ODM nominated MP who was blocked from accessing offices on Monday.
And a section of teachers from Masaba North barricaded Mosobeti_Keroka highway for hours on Wednesday and demanded that the government apologises to Sossion.
"We cannot allow intimidation of legally elected representatives. We shall continue picketing until this unfair witch hunt ceases to happen," said Cornelius Kerauni, the ring leader.
They further threatened to kick out regional officials who are pushing for Sossion's removal, insisting that the trade unionist has done 'fairly well' in his duties.
Normalcy however returned after the teachers voluntarily left the scene after the hour of transport paralysis in the region.
