The protesters said Uhuru would not get any votes in the county. Photo/Reuben OlitaHundreds of Busia residents on Friday took to the streets to protest against continuous attacks on the Supreme Court Judges by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Led by Nangina Ward MCA John Obwogo and Busia County Boda boda Sacco chairman Eric Makokha, the residents warned former Funyula MP Paul Otuoma against joining Jubilee.
Displaying anti-Uhuru, Otuoma and former Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba placards and twigs, the residents trekked for 10 kilometres from Korinda before converging at Green Garden in Busia Town where they were addressed the media before dispersing.
Obwogo told Uhuru not to vindicate Justice David Maraga and judge Smokin Wanjala, adding that IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati’s Memo was a clear indicator that the presidential polls was stolen.
“Uhuru should not arm-twist the Judiciary which is an independent body. Our brother Smokin Wanjala should be respected. He is educated and his papers made him join the Supreme Court,” Obwogo said.
“The President is wooing leaders from Western including my brother Otuoma to his camp in a bid to win votes for him. We say such machinations will not yield to a single additional vote from Busia County.”
He backed NASA Presidential candidate Raila Odinga's demands from IEBC that there will be no fresh polls if the opposition is not consulted. Obwogo told Otuoma to rethink his recent move to join Jubilee.
Makokha told Uhuru to apologize to the people of Busia County for abusing “their son Smoking Wanjala if he wants any vote.
“Anybody who cheats you that Busia is Jubilee came there to satisfy their stomachs. We are in NASA and we respect Raila whom we shall give our votes on October 17," Makokha said.
