Led by their leader, Gitu Wa Kahengeri, they tabled their proposals on Thursday at Kiambu County Assembly.

"Let those who fought in the Maumau war and cannot afford to pay for medical care be treated for free," said Kahengeri.

He also urged the government to compensate those who lost their land while busy fighting in the forest.

Kahengeri observed that the historical moment ought to be erected in Githunguri, since thats the place where a massacre took place during the 1952 emergency.

"Thousands were butchered in Githunguri; it was a blood-bath. One was being put in a special machine that was decapitating them,” said Kahengeri adding that the monument will be reminding generations of heroes who fought for independence.

Kahengeri was speaking to journalists outside Kiambu County Assembly after handing the proposal to the officials.
