Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Labour Social Services and East Africa Affairs Susan Mochache has challenged Abagusii community to treat elderly people with courtesy.
This comes after an irate mob lynched two women for allegedly being in possession of witchcraft paraphernalia last week in Omokonge, Nyamira County.
Mochache who was addressing Council of Elders, urged the local community to be tolerant when handling the aged.
“We condemn this backward act of destroying other people's properties and taking their lives recklessly. It is important to be cautious when handling them," he said.
She noted that Kisii and Kilifi counties have been notorious on the vice for years now.
The Abagusii council of Elders led by Chairman Araka Matundura vowed to sensitize residents against the vice in the coming months.
