Natural Resources Principal Secretary Margret Mwakima has said the Jubilee Party has demonstrated commitment in addressing challenges facing Kenyans especially in the Coast region.
For instance, Mwakima said the government has set aside Sh285 million to compensate victims of human-wildlife conflicts.“We know this area experiences frequent wildlife invasions but the government has put up measures to put up an electric fence to stop these invasions,” she said Thursday as quoted by the Nation.“Already, the government has compensated relatives of victims who died due to injuries from wildlife,” she added.“The claimant list of deaths from 2013-2016 has already been compensated fully. The next phase is for those injured and those whose properties and crops were destroyed by wildlife,” said the PS.Mwakima made the remarks during a relief food distribution exercise at Bughuta in Kasigau Voi, Taita Taveta County. She was with Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri.
