A senior government official has lauded the county government of Nakuru for the many notable improvements that have been achieved in the agricultural sector.

Speaking after paying deputy Governor Joseph Ruto a courtesy call in his office at the county headquarters office on Tuesday, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Dr Andrew Tuimur said Nakuru was among the best agriculturally productive counties in the country, thanks to the support from the national government.

Tuimur specifically highlighted the input of different agricultural institutes in the county saying they have continued to release qualified people into the market something that has made the country known across the region.

"I have already visited institutes such as the Dairy Training Institute in Naivasha and the Livestock Recording Centre and Veterinary Laboratory and I can say the development there is commendable," he said. 

The PS further revealed of a plan by the national government to donate 47 milk coolers to Nakuru County as a way of boosting the sector in the region. 

Nakuru is among the largest milk producers in East and Central Africa because of its favourable climatic conditions for dairy farming.
