Ayub Lekaunti ole Deroni, a bodyguard for Public Works Principal Secretary Mariam El Maawy's has been laid to rest at his Shartuka home in Narok County.
Family members gathered to mourn the Administration Police officer who was killed by Al Shabaab militants.
"While young, he liked playing ‘erufundu’ (homemade football). He also looked after family cattle and enjoyed bull-fighting,” said his father as reported by the Nation.
He also spoke about his son's bravery through his primary and secondary school years.
Mr Deroni was described as a kind, caring, loving and diligent man.
On July 13th while on duty, the vehicle carrying him and Ms Maawy was attacked at Milihoi in Lamu West and he was killed.
Mr Deroni leaves behind a wife and three daughters.
