Nairobi's Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko claimed on Sunday in a church at Njiru, Nairobi that a certain principal secretary gave one of his bodyguards instructions to poison his food.
According to the flamboyant governor, the bodyguard refused to heed those grim instructions, leading to the significant downsizing of his security detail.
''He told one of my bodyguards to spike my food with poison. The bodyguard refused. When he knew that the secret had been leaked, he withdrew all my security detail. What you are hearing is nothing but propaganda,'' the governor sensationally claimed.
The shocking claims mark a new low in the murky relations between the governor and elements in the national government.
He fired at those planning to eliminate him, saying that they were not God and that they would also die one day.
''You are not God. Only God can take a man's life,'' Governor Sonko fired.
Sonko also claimed that the bodyguard who refused to heed the instructions was in the process of being transferred and there was a plan to eliminate him.
