Mavoko residents have put public land grabbers on notice arguing that they cannot continue being silent as the vice continues flourishing in the sub county.
James Muindi, residents spokesperson, said that rampant land grabbing cases in the area are worrying.
"We can not continue watching as cartels continue grabbing public land at the expense of the community," said Muindi.
Muindi claimed most of the schools in the region had no title deed's and parts of their land has been interfered with by people well connected to the government.
He noted that some of public officers in Mlolongo and Athi River have no permanent offices as there is no space to built them.
“Some of our leaders are using rented offices since we do not have an area to build them. This can make some officers to compromise self delivery,” notes Muindi.
Area MP, Patrick Makau said corruption had influenced land grabbing.
"The county is rotten and as MPs, we must stand strong and ensure impunity of land grabbing ends in the entire Machakos County," said Makau.
Makau said that anybody caught grabbing public utility must be dealt with thoroughly in accordance to the law in spite of his social status.
