Former presidential candidate Prof James Ole Kiyiapi has called for the enactment of a law that will bar civil servants from engaging in other personal businesses.

This, Prof Kiyiapi says will help curb the runaway corruption mainly associated with public servants.

Speaking to the press at the Boma hotel in Eldoret, Wednesday, Kiyiapi further urged relevant institutions to up the fight against graft in the country.

"Corruption is an issue that must be stopped by any means and this is why I want to ask that whoever wins the presidency in August polls must put ending the vice as his first priority," noted Prof Kiyiapi.

"We also need a law that will bar high level government officials and public servants from engaging in personal businesses as this will help deal with corruption in public service," he added.

Kiyiapi who unsuccessfully vied for the country's top seat in the 2013 general elections further said, "If I was president corruption would never be there."
