Garissa residents have been urged to give their opinion on the plans by the government to upgrade the Mombasa-Garissa Highway.
Kenya National Highways Authority Director General Peter Mundinia said members of the public from February have an opportunity to share their views on the planned construction of the highway that will benefit them.
Mr. Mundinia in a newspaper advertisement urged the public to come out and be part of the development plan to ensure the government caters to their interests in an effective manner.
He said the authority will undertake stakeholder and public participation meetings in early February to provide participants with an opportunity to air their views and concerns regarding the project.
The meetings will be held on a daily basis from Monday, February 5 to Saturday, February 10, 2018 in Madogo, Bura, Hola, Garsen, Ganda and Malindi for the five consecutive days.
“The general public within the project area and surrounding areas are hereby notified and invited to attend the public consultation meetings to be held as per the above schedule,” said Mr. Mundinia.
He said the National Government will be supported by the World Bank road adding that road would traverse through the urban centres of Malindi, Ganda, Garsen, Hola, and Bura and terminate in Madogo along the Thika-Garissa road.
“The Government of Kenya with support from the World Bank through its implementing agency, KeNHA, is preparing documentation for the upgrading of the Malindi-Garsen-Hola-Madogo section of the Mombasa-Garissa Road,” said Mr. Mundinia.
