The body of a Class Six pupil from Machakos town ward was found hanging on mosquito net strings on Thursday evening in what is believed to be suicide.
Family members suspected that something had gone wrong after the boy stayed in the house for long hours. They went into the house where they found the body of the young boy swinging on the roof.
Mithini sub-chief Fidelis Muli urged parents to spend time with their children to prevent such occurrences in the future.
“The pupil had used strings from a mosquito net which was in his house to hang himself. We are not able to establish the reason why the boy decided to take his life but the police have started investigations into the incident,” said Muli.
“I urge parents not to be too busy but to spend time with their children and advise them accordingly. They should interact with their children in order to know the problems which they are experiencing,” added Muli.
Muli advised the young generation to seek assistant from their parents and guardians when they are in difficulties.
The body of the pupil was taken to Machakos Level Five Hospital.
