President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto were in Makutano, West Pokot county, Tuesday, where they held a public rally.
However, reports indicate pupils at the Makutano primary school 'received it all'.
Kenyatta’s arrival at the school saw a group of youth run towards the venue, crowding, prompting security officers to lob teargas canisters to disperse them.
Pupils who were as well eager to see the president, maybe for the first time, were caught in the middle. The inhaled the large amounts of the teargas smoke, turned back as they coughed, seeking help.
Reports indicate the children were quickly rushed to Lilyon Nursing Home for treatment, after slight first aide.
"President Uhuru Kenyatta was clearly infuriated by the whole ordeal, and demanded to see the area OCS immediately," said Ureport.
During the tour, Uhuru addressed locals, saying: "I highly respect you the people of Pokot, Kenyans know you as bold and skillful warriors who are fearless in battle. We value you but I now request you to please discard that non-progressive culture which undermines our nationhood and instead channel your energies in modern activities aimed at building a strong nation."
He called on the youth to embrace education which would help them acquire skills that would help them access opportunities not only to transform their lives but contribute to Kenya's development.
