The winds left the pupils of Wabere Primary School without classrooms forcing them to sit for their end of term exams inside a nearby church.

According to the headteacher, Mr Joshua Naituli, the area experienced strong winds due to the ongoing heavy rains that the country is experiencing.

Mr Naituli said the winds demolished the temporary shelter that was put up and caused serious destruction to property.

The school head further said that this is the second time the incident has occurred due to the ongoing heavy rains.

The incident occurred when the pupils were out for sporting activities in a neighboring school hence no casualty was reported.

“The classrooms were built as a temporary shelter and could not withstand harsh climatic conditions. Fortunately, there were no pupils inside the classrooms during the incident as they were taking part in game competitions at a different school,” said Mr Naituli.

The headteacher has urged both the county and national governments to help the school build stronger structures so that learning at the AIPC church does not become a permanent situation.

Just recently, more than 100 pupils of Chumvi Yere Primary School in Isiolo were forced to study under trees after winds blew off the roofs of their classrooms.
