Mr. Matiang’i said the police need to ensure that those behind the terrorist attack are pursued and brought to book as soon as possible.

Mr. Matiang’i said non-local teachers and workers should not be scared to work in North Eastern due to attacks by Al-Shabaab saying security agencies need to ensure those behind such attacks are arrested and prosecuted.

The CS issued the directive when he attended a security meeting in Wajir County following incidents of killing of teachers and conflicts arising from boundaries.

“Pursue them until the gates of hell. We shall not have Kenyans fearing to work in some places because of insecurity, this won’t happen,” said Mr. Matiang’i.

Three non-local teachers were killed on February 16 at Qarsa Primary School following an attack by the militants and since then non-local teachers working in the region have been demanding to be transferred to safer areas.

Terrorist attacks in the area have been on the rise for the past months in the region which have led to the destruction of property, loss of lives and even destruction of Ijara police stations which was attacked by suspected Al-Shabaab militants.
