Owuor wondered why the board is not functioning and yet they have already carried out the vetting.

He noted that land issues are very critical hence need for the county land board to help locals transact land deals.

“Most of the county residents are farmers meaning they rely on land; how will they acquire land title deeds if there is no land board in place,” said Owuor.

Addressing a press conference in Kisumu, Owuor said that already the National Land Commission has issued circular directing counties that have not put in place land boards to do so by April 15.

He noted that in case Kisumu County fails to beat the deadline it will make its residents suffer since they will be forced visit the commission for help.

“How will our poor people travel to Nairobi to transact the land deals. Ranguma must save our people from this arduous task by putting in place the board before the expiry of the date given,” said Owuor.

He urged Kisumu County Government to move with speed and operationalise the board within 24 hours lest he moves to court.

Only 30 counties have managed to establish county land management boards and they  are operational.
