Kisumu County residents’ Chairperson Audi Ogada has challenged the county’s CeC for physical planning and development Barrack Obonyo has been challenged to allocate funds to construct lifts in the building in which Huduma Centre services are offered.
Huduma Centre is one of the positive steps the government has achieved. However, in Kisumu City, the said centre is situated in a building without lifts leading to the offices are located far up, making it very difficult for most people to access them.
The disappointed residents urged the CeC to speed up and allocate funds to improve the building status by constructing lifts noting that not every individual had the capability to access the storey building using stairs cases.
Ogada emphasised by saying that the building was a centre of service to the local residents and access would be easy when lifts were constructed.
He affirmed to the residents that he will put the CeC for planning and development into task to see the storey building easily accessed by everyone adding that use of stairs is a great hindrance to most people especially the elderly.
Speaking to kisumu residents at Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground on Tuesday, Ogada emphasised on speeding up mounting of lifts system plans on the tall building.
“Allocate funds to improve the huduma centre lift system for easy access and time saving,” said Ogada.
Migosi Ward Representative Paul Achayo also welcomed the sentiments by saying it was proper for people to have easy access to the building. His counterpart Edwin Anayo also echoed the sentiments.
