Speaking on Friday in two separate functions in Sironga and Gesima wards during the burial of two students who died in the Garissa University attack, Nyamira women representative Alice Chae asked the government to act on intelligence reports on any possible attacks.

She urged the government to concentrate on its own affairs and withdraw Kenya Defence Forces from Somalia.

“I ask the government to guard its people by beefing up security in all parts of the country. There is no way we can protect or put off fire in a neighbour’s house yet ours in burning,” Chae said.

“Our forces should be withdrawn from Somalia so that they can take charge of Kenyan security," she recommended.

On his side, Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire urged the government to transfer locals who are non-Muslims from attack-prone areas to safe zones.

Bosire said: "The government should not compel non-Muslims to keep on working in attack-prone areas. It should instead transfer them to safer areas because terrorists seem to be targeting non-Muslims."

Victor Swanya Akama who is area politician donated 30 desks to Risa primary in Gesima ward as a way of remembering Susan Onyinkwa, an alumnus of the School, who died in the Garissa attack.
