ERC Director General Pavel Oimeke on Thursday toured Pwani Oil Products Limited following their recent application for an electric power generation permit.

The company is optimistic that a power generation plant will help allievate dependence on the national grid, reduce cost of production, improve reliability and stability of power in the factory.

Sayta Kamarahaju, the company’s Head of Operations Edibles and Personal Care, emphasized that affordable and reliable power supply will help increase the company’s competitiveness through reduced cost of goods.

During the visit, the Director General was accompanied by ERC Commissioners Njenga Mwangi, Nixon Lenana and Eng. Eric Nyamunga.

Pwani Oils Products Limited is located in Mombasa and is one of the largest manufacturers of edible oils, fat and laundry bar soap in Africa.
