Farmers from the agri-rich Olenguruone area on Tuesday received thousands of pyrethrum seedlings from the county government of Nakuru and a partner, KENTEGRA.
Under his pyrethrum revival strategy, Governor Lee Kinyanjui promised each farmer free seedlings depending on the acreage available.
Speaking during the event, the County Executive in charge of Agriculture Dr Immaculate Njuthe, assured farmers that the program will take care of the entire Pyrethrum value chain.
KENTEGRA Botanicals, an international company interested in pyrethrum growing and processing promised to ensure farmers are paid between 15-30 days after crop delivery.
Pyrethrum is a high value cash crop with minimum cost of production.
Farmers can earn between Sh200 to Sh365 per kilogram of dried crop.
