The Ministry of Health's safety code will be required in all chemists in Garissa county.

This comes after Pharmacy and Poisons Board enlightened locals that the code will enable them know if the pharmacy they are visiting is selling original or counterfeit drugs.

Speaking to pharmacists in Garissa, Pharmacy and Poisons Board inspection officer Ali Omar said the code will help reduce further problems to those seeking trearment from chemists.

"The code from the Health Ministry will help Garissa locals differentiate between fake and legal pharmacies in the county. We have set to crack down on all quack pharmacists and restore legal operations," said Ali.

The residents were also told to come out and report any illegal shops selling counterfeit drugs in the county.
