Machakos County governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has appealed to residents to support him as he seeks to make the county a development hub.
Speaking to residents at Mavoko shopping centre over the weekend, the governor said that his government is keen to fulfil its development agenda.
He said that the county government has outlined various development projects meant to benefit people of Machakos and Kenyans as whole.
“My agenda for Machakos people is to see them access quality and affordable services and making sure that they are involved in development matters,” said Dr. Mutua.
The county boss said that he will not be distracted by some few individuals whom he said are working tirelessly to see him fail.
He revealed that his decision to vie for Machakos gubernatorial seat in the 2013 general elections was driven by the desire to see the people get services they had been denied for many years.
Mutua added that the government will focus on addressing real issues facing the common people.
Dr. Mutua who affirmed that plans to construct irrigations dams across the county are at an advanced stage stating that irrigation will improve food production, also said that residents across Machakos will soon start to get clean drinking water.
Mutua also said that he is working closely with the national government and investors on projects that will improve the living standards of the people.
The governor concluded by saying that the county has adopted policies that will encourage private and foreign investments to invest in Machakos.
