A group of youths working at quarry in Bahati consistuency, Nakuru county is now anguishing due to the lack of identification cards (IDs).
Maina is one of the quarry workers who is willing to possess an id card but things seems to go opposite since his fingerprints have been distorted due to heavy manual work.
Since Mr. Maina turned 18 years, he has made several visits to Bahati constituency aiming to be registered as a citizen but all doesn’t go well. He is now 30 years old and he claims that the registration officials have been telling him that the bio-metric machine has failed to take his fingerprints for verification.
Maina wonders why the machine does not accept any of his fingers regardless of doing everything as advised by the officers including cleansing his hands with water and soap and even applying mustard oil.
He is said to have worked in a quarry since he dropped out of the school.
Maina says he is experiencing a big challenge due to lack of ID card including harassment by security personnel registering as a voter among other challenges.
