Residents of Ahero village in Bahati constituency in Nakuru County have decried that the ongoing quarrying in the area has left bodies buried in the area exposed.
The locals said bodies and coffins have been exposed due to the high demand of building stones as people are digging deep to get them.
“Quarrying business is booming in the area as construction of houses in Nakuru is on the rise. On Tuesday, a family grave collapsed leaving the bodies exposed. Houses and toilets are hanging dangerously. The county government should intervene and stop the quarrying activities so that the dead can rest in peace,” said John Kamau, a resident.
He said the families whose relatives died and were buried but their bodies have been exposed should do a ritual to appease the dead.
He said most affected areas include Nyathuna, and Ahero villages.
