Homabay incumbent senator Moses Otieno Kajwang has been declared the winner of the seat's ODM party nomination ticket.
The county ODM Elections Board Returning Officer (RO) declared Kajwang the winner, with 1,948 votes, against his rival, Fred Rabongo's 754 votes.
"We had a very peaceful election, we din't have any violence in the entire county and the results have not trickled in as much as we wanted, but we can't wait forever. Time has come that we must declare the results we have, on the basis of the figures that have been projected,'' said the RO.
Speaking during announcement of the results, after the Monday April 24, primaries, he added: "Allow me start with the position of Senate. We had two candidates: Fred Rabongo who got 754 votes. The other candidate was Moses Kajwang who go 1,948. So in this nomination, Moses Otieno Kajwang becomes the senator nominee for the position of senator, for Homabay county.''
Incumbent governor Cyprian Awiti was declared winner with 46,346 votes.
However, speaking separately to the press after the results, Rabongo wondered how 60,000 voters would enter a polling station, vote for the governor, and not vote for the senator.
"I have results from one of the constituency, where I have over 40,000 votes, and Moses Kajwang had slightly over 19,000 votes and officials in that area, have agreed to testify,'' Rabongo said, as he called on the ODM NEB to investigate the matter and issue him with nomination certificate.
