Kalonzo and Wetangula were in a closed door 5-hour consultative meeting on Sunday before Mudavadi sent his ANC party Secretary-General Barack Muluka to represent him.

Also present in the meeting were ex-Machakos senator Johnson Muthama, Ford Kenya Deputy Party Leader ex-Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale, Tongaren MP Dr Eseli Simiyu and Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa.

Reports indicate the meeting which kicked off at 3 pm saw the leaders discuss weighty issues and the unfolding change in NASA, ahead of Monday's (March 12) NASA principals' summit meeting.

NASA leader Raila Odinga met President Uhuru Kenyatta, in a surprise meeting on Friday, which Kalonzo, Wetangula and Mudavadi said they were not involved.

They said they learnt about it through the media, and wondered why Raila kept them in the dark.

Odinga's ODM party, an affiliate of NASA has since defended him saying they owe nobody an apology.

It is not clear if whether Odinga was invited to the meeting held at Nairobi's Ole Sereni.
