After Education CS Fred Matiang’i released KCSE results on Wednesday, the question continues to be raised over the quality of the results.
The marking team managed to mark the scripts under record time, finishing days before the usual 25 December in the yesteryears.
Pressure from different quarters meant that the team put in more hours during the exercise, in order to make it in time as guided.
President Uhuru Kenyatta had during his swearing-in directed that all candidates who sat the KCSE examination get their results before Christmas.
A teacher, who spoke to the Nation revealed how they were meant to work for long in order to achieve this.
“Previously, we used to do marking up to December 25 but this year we were under a lot of pressure. Even on Jamhuri Day, despite being a national holiday, teachers were not allowed to rest,” the teacher recalled.
“We used to mark the examination papers up to 10 pm and wake up by 5 am so that by 6 am, we are already back into marking centers to continue with the job,” an examiner whom also spoke to the Nation added.
The results were released on Wednesday, with girls outperforming the boys after picking the first seven out of 10 first spots.
