Security agencies n Rift Valley have assured residents that the electioneering period will be smooth.

This is after concerns were raised following cases of banditry in the region.

Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Wanyama Musiambo has assured that on August 8 voting will be conducted smoothly.

"The government has deployed enough security officers and armoured vehicles to insecurity hit areas to deter any criminal activity.

"Voting will not be disrupted. We will not allow voters to be disenfranchised as it is a democratic right to vote," Mr Musiambo is quoted by Nation.

His assurance come after hundreds of residents in North Rift counties fled their homes because of banditry.
