Agribusiness farmers and residents of Njoro in Nakuru County are set to benefit from proposed rabbit and poultry slaughter houses in the region. The chairman of Njoro Small Scale Farmers Association (NSFA) Dominick Kimtai announced that his association will next year sponsor the establishment of the two unique slaughter facilities to boost business for local farmers and meat dealers. Kimtai was addressing the members and stakeholders during the group’s annual meeting held at Egerton University Savings and Credit Cooperative conference hall on Friday. The chair noted that several members of the association were active rabbit and poultry farmers hence need to promote their products’ market through the establishment of the slaughter houses. “This project will involve the establishment of a unique market centre for rabbit and poultry products to promote our members and other locals involved in the sector. We will liaise with other stakeholders to expand the factory and market,’’ said Kimtai. He stated that the association has one hundred members who deal in rabbit and poultry agribusiness.
