The race for the Kajiado governorship continues to attract a number of aspirants from various political parties.

This is after the Party of National Unity (PNU), endorsed Daniel Nina Livondo, to face off with other aspirants, as they hope to oust incumbent David Nkendianye.

Nkedianye who was elected on an ODM party ticket in 2013, received a direct nomination certificate from the party, due to lack of competition.

PNU leader Meru governor Peter Munya officially launched Livondo's campaign, over the weekend, for the Kajiado gubernatorial bid.

''PNU has a rich legacy needing to be safeguarded as we create more for the future. Am elated with the enthusiasm and passion,'' said Munya, who seeks re-election in Meru, under his party ticket.

Livondo now joins former Interior and Coordination Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku, who is eyeing president Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party ticket, with aims to win.

Livondo was in Jubilee, before defecting to PNU due to high copetition from his Jubilee rivals, for the ticket.

Taraiya ole Kores, George King'ori, Moses Parantai, Ole Lenku are eyeing the Jubilee Party ticket.

PNU also has several parliamentary aspirants in the Rift Valley county, including Mr Lalaito (Kajiado South).

''Our party supports the re-election of Uhuru Kenyatta in the forthcoming general elections,'' Munya said.
