While unveiling a sanitation programme at Keratina business centre along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway, Gikaria said that Nakuru is among the dirtiest urban centres in the country.

“We will see to it that we reclaim our lost glory. We are among the most untidy and this is not very encouraging. We must do something because it will still come back to us,” said the MP.

He urged the county government and other stakeholders including the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) committees to come up with sustainable sanitation programmes that will reclaim the town’s lost glory.

This he said would market the town as a destination centre in terms of investment and tourism which will benefit residents.

Gikaria said he was personally sponsoring small scale sanitation programmes within the town as an example to other stakeholders. He refuted claims that he was undermining the county government by engaging in activities preserved for it but rather as a leader he was showing good example of what needs to be done.

“Some people think I am fighting the county government but am just doing my work as a leader. We will soon roll out a major programme to reclaim that glory,” said Gikaria.
