Kisumu gubernatorial hopeful Prof Anyang' Nyong'o has accused Deputy President William Ruto's wife, Rachel, of colluding with Jubilee Party leaders, to rig elections in the Luo Nyanza region.
Nyong'o who is an ODM party candidate, named several people that Rachel Ruto has allegedly been working with, to sway voters in the region and rig elections, in favour of President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee.
According to Nyong'o, his opponent governor Jack Ranguma (Independent candidate), Karachuonyo MP James Rege, Jubilee Party secretary Raphael Tuju and one woman identified as Jabalo, from Siaya County, held a secret meeting at Jumuiya Hotel on July 6, 2017, with intentions to buy ID cards of voters in the region, or to bribe voters to vote for Jubilee.
"Mama Ruto (Rachel Ruto), gave Jabalo up to Sh1 million to help buy ID cards of Kisumu County voters so as to cut the number of people who will vote for Raila Amolo Odinga as the president and Ranguma and I, as governor," said Nyong'o who greatly condemnd the incident.
He added that on July 26, the some IEBC officials and governor Ranguma had a meeting at Museum View Hotel, to plan on how to execute a plot to block voters in Kisumu, from voting.
"On July 28, ICT experts from IEBC held a meeting here in Kisumu to subvert elections," Nyong'o told the press, Sunday, July 30, after he attended a church service at St Stephens ACK Cathedral at Ahero.
"And lastly yesterday (Saturday July 29), an MCA here in Ahero, called Ochelle was the chairman of a meeting of IEBC officials namely; John Amimo Onunga, Susan Onudi Amimo, Mary Odada, Ramjusu Ogunyo and and Maureen Achola, at Mavellon Hotel, Ahero," he noted.
Nyong'o further said that the National Super Alliance (Nasa) was following such people, to monitor their moves.
"I will take a petition to the office of the president, the IEBC, and the Inspector General of Police, to ensure Kaitany goes on leave until elections are done," he said.
