Deputy President William Ruto's wife, Rachel, has pleaded with Kenyans to maintain peace in this electioneering period.
Speaking during a prayer service organised by Full Gospel Churches of Kenya in Meru, Ruto cautioned Kenyans against being incited to turn against each other by politicians ahead of next month's polls.
"These politicians look like they are at war in public, but the truth is they love each other," said Mrs Ruto on Wednesday.
"Let us be our brothers' keeper. As we approach the general election, let us be peaceful. Let no Kenyan lose his or her life because of elections," she added.
Ruto warned Meru constituents against being divided because of Governor Peter Munya and Senator Kiraitu Murungi rivalry which she observed it has divided them into clans and risks plunging parts of the county into violence.
"What I want to encourage the people of Meru is to stay united. What I know, Meru county has never been affected by tribalism, and I urge you not to start what God does not you to start," she said.
