Deputy President’s wife Rachel Ruto has urged women to embrace table banking as a way of improving their livelihoods.
"Table banking is an initiative that is meant to empower women financially to eradicate poverty," she said.
Speaking on Tuesday during the launch of a partnership between Joyful Women Organization (JOYWO) with the Japanese Government at Kapsaret Sub County, Ruto urged women to start projects that will generate income.
"Table banking loans are better than those financial institutions since their interest is very low," she said.
She advised women to ensure they benefit from government funds including Uwezo that are given to benefit women.
Rachel, who is the patron of JOYWO said since its inception in 2009, the group has grown from the initial 60 groups to the current membership of 1200.
