The county governments should divert its resources to youths in a bid to promote talents in various fields, a radio presenter has said.
Mwinyi Kazungu, popularly known as Mtetezi in his KBC Radio Top Mashariki Show, challenged county governments to support the youths by identifying extremely gifted individuals in various fields, especially in the music industry.
Speaking on Saturday at Kisii University during talent search show that was sponsored by Grandpa Records, the flamboyant presenter said many youths had lost direction in life despite having incredible talents that could earn them a living.
“I am a sad man because there is a youth somewhere who can be a good presenter or musician than me or Mustapha but cannot thrive because no one is ready to support them to achieve or nurture their talent,” Kazungu said.
“But with the decentralisation of power, I think county governments should chip in and rescue such souls. There are enough resources in the counties that can be used to change lives of these individuals,” he added.
He challenged the newly devolved units to build talent-nurturing academies that will not only concentrate on music but also in other aspects like athletics, literature and art.
“If they do us a favour by coming up with talent search academies, I think we can achieve a lot in literature, music and even art,” said Kazungu.
