Famous actor and radio presenter at Lake Victoria FM, Hezron Ochieng Ragen, will be laid to rest on Saturday at his home in Ahero Kakola, in Nyando sub county.
Hezron passed on a fortnight ago after a short illness at the Kisumu County Hospital.
Ragen has been mourned and eulogised on radio Lake Victoria by audience, friends and colleagues through live calls and condolence messages since his demise.
Simon Peter Otieno of UoN eulogised Ragen as "a true symbol of the great investments in the arts."
Dr Simon is the head of the National Schools and Colleges Film Programme.
Ragen was popularly and easily identified by his stage name Professor Ikaristus Anderikus Ng'ow.
He horned his talent by humble beginning at Lela Mixed Secondary school. The talented Ragen was announced the national best actor at the annual Kenya National Schools, Colleges and Universities Drama Festival (KNSCUDF) held in Kakamega in 2009.
He was the main actor in the riddle of Nam Lolwe written and directed by Ralph Wangatia, then of Kaimosi Technical Training College.
Khaemba Sirengo, the Executive Secretary KNSCUDF on behalf of the executive committee, mourned Ragen saying he was a sign of success in the fete.
"We have lost an artist who made us reflect very seriously on our society using a crucial genre that defines the African artistic space," Khaemba remarked through a condolence message through the radio on Thursday.
George Chunga of the Storytellers Society also mourned Ragen over the radio.
He said: "This fallen man taught me how to manuever in the industry."
Ragen was also a member of Lagnet Theatre group. He was a comical character 'Agege' in 'Aminata' which was a secondary school set book written by Francis Imbuga.
