He is joining a host of other aspirants seeking to replace Dr Wilfred Machage.

Mr Okello in an interview said he was sure of winning the seat on an ODM ticket and is banking on his many years of work as a radio presenter to edge out other contenders.

He hosts the popular morning radio show 'Kogwen Gi Ben Oluoch Okello' at Ramogi FM.

The holder of a Master's Degree in Development Communication has also worked as a presenter at Radio Lake Victoria.

He said he spent his childhood schooling in Kuria, Machage's home turf and would therefore have no trouble making inroads when he starts his campaigns

"I understand the people of Kuria, I know their problems and I will appeal to them to consider my ability to represent their interests.

"There is a representation gap in this office, Machage is not active enough" he said.

"It is a vital office in the devolved system and should be used to fight for the interests of the people."
