Karani who was hosting ‘Beat Time Show’ and English Service with Johnston Wamurunga said that the Kenyan media industry has lost its meaning since presenters who are not trained are given the opportunity to lead a show and the trained personnel are left out.

He said that a time is coming when the media industry will move a notch higher and only those trained with valid certificates will be allowed in media houses as opposed to ‘quarks’ who have not sat in a communication’s class.

The veteran who was speaking on Thursday in Blue Post hotel in Thika Township Ward expressed his disappointment with the Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK) claiming it has failed the media industry by refusing to set regulations in terms of skills and knowledge to venture into the career.

He said that CAK should step up its game to allow young talented presenters and professionals to take the opportunities in Media Houses in Kenya.

Karani further urged CAK to set proper salary minimums to professional Media Presenters citing that even lawyers and doctors have a set minimum salary to avoid any misuse to media practitioners in the country.

He has however lauded the digital migration in Kenya saying it will encourage more TV Stations in the market and create more employment for Kenyans, thus encouraged youths to pursue communication courses which is growing at a very fast rate.
