A group of pastors in Mombasa have filed a suit against Baraka FM, a local radio station in the county, for airing secular content.
The clerics went to court seeking to bar the Christian station from airing non-religious content, SDE reports. The religious leaders, under the Mombasa Pastors Fellowship Association, want action taken against the station’s management for going against the Christian rights. Through their lawyer, Leonard Shimaka, the pastors asked Judge Eric Ogola to issue a temporary injunction barring the station from continuing to broadcast secular content. They argued the management had contravened the initial and sole intended purpose of the radio station. The complainants have also listed the Attorney General and the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) as the respondents in the case. The court directed the different parties to file their responses within two weeks before the hearing of the case set for October 16.
