Kisumu County Governor Jack Ranguma has initiated a program that will see the elderly in Kisumu County treated for free.

This move, according to the governor, is meant to curb the rising number of deaths and those detained in the public hospital for inability to pay their bills.

The Kisumu governor on Saturday gave insurance cards to more than 2000 old people in the county with about thirty being picked from the 35 county's wards.

"The elderly require lots of medical attention yet they are usually ignored," said the county boss.

Ranguma also promised the same services to the women and the disabled.

"We will launch a similar scheme for the women and the disabled, " he said.
