The region whose total number of votes is estimated to be 700,000 (Kisii and Nyamira) voted overwhelmingly for Odinga in 2017.

But Odinga's tour could be informed by low voter registration turnout in a region that he is keen to win in August.

" I have come here for the second time in two weeks because I feel we should do more on voter registration. I am appealing to you to do your part," Odinga said.

And in less than 5km from Kisii town, Kalonzo Musyoka was also busy campaigning for the opposition team."I want you to register in numbers. We must make crucial decision in August but that wont happen if you don't vote," he told Kitutu Chache South residents.

The increasing population of Kisii community has placed it at the centre stage for scramble by both leading coalitions.

Deputy President William Ruto has been spearheading Jubilee party campaigns in the region.
