Runyenjes Member of Parliament Cecily Mbarire has accused the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) of favouring male candidates.

Mbarire faulted the opposition party's move of offering male candidates with direct nominations at the expense of female contestants.

She further faulted leader Raila Odinga for ‘ill-treating’ nominated senator Elizabeth Ongoro on her quest to vie for Ruaraka Constituency seat by trying to block her in favour of TJ Kajwang’.

Mbarire who is vying for the Jubilee ticket the Embu County gubernatorial seat, slammed ODM’s decision saying all contestants should be left free to seek support from the electorates.

She concluded that ODM has been undermining women in leadership, noting that the party has only one elected female legislator, Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo, compared to Jubilee Party which has several elected female politicians.While commissioning
