Coalition for Reform and Democracy (Cord) Leader Raila Odinga has lashed out at Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua for snubbing a Cord rally in Machakos on Monday.
Odinga termed failure by Mutua to attend the rally at Mulu Mutiysa Grounds as betrayal since Governor Mutua is “a member of Cord family”.
“We invited him to come, and as a matter of fact, he was supposed to be here because he belongs to Cord family,” said Odinga.
Odinga said that the move by Mutua to avoid the meeting has not gone well with other coalition leaders.
He said that all Cord members must work together and push its development agenda together as a team.
Odinga said that disunity among members will spell doom for the coalition ahead of the 2017 polls.
Mutua was elected as Governor on a Wiper Party ticket which is an affiliate member of Cord.
The governor has on several occasions distanced himself from Cord and Wiper politics with critics alleging that he is working with Jubilee.
On Monday, Cord co-principals Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka held political rallies in Machakos to sell their Okoa Kenya referendum agenda.
The co-principals were accompanied by senators, MPs, Women Reps and MCAs affiliated to Cord who vowed to work together and remain united ahead of the 2017 general election.
