Raila is also accusing the President of using his Presidency and government machinery to do the same.

During a press conference in his Capitol Hill office on Friday, the former Premier wondered how the President who was attending a Jubilee function in Bomas of Kenya was able to foretell that he was going to address the conference on the controversial Itare Dam Project.

"I know they are listening to my phone call and they heard me talk with somebody this morning, the President's statement to preempt my statement is unfortunate," he was quoted by the Star.

In the conference, the Orange Party leader narrated how the dam construction will cut water supply from some parts of the nation as around 5 rivers will be diverted to supply it with water.

This is not the first time that the leader has raised a red flag on government projects terming them as harmful. Only a few weeks ago, he warned about the construction of the Northern Collector Water Tunnel in Muranga saying that it would render people from Ukambani, Muranga, Garissa and Tana River counties water less.

According to Raila, the dam's water will come from 7 rivers which pour into the Tana River and this will leave The Tana with low level of water that will not be enough for all the people downstream.

However, President Uhuru has rubbished his claims on the Itare Dam saying that they are aimed at propagating ethnic division for political gains.
